Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially opens in theatres on July 31, 2026 but if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber you can actually get in two days before everyone else. Amazon Prime members will be able to see the film in select theatres nationwide from Wednesday, July 29, through a dedicated page on their official site where customers can already sign up for ticket notifications.
What Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day About?
Now, the actual story. The film picks up after the events of No Way Home, where Peter Parker made Doctor Strange cast a spell that erased him from everyone’s memory. Peter kept all of his own memories but everyone he loves, including MJ and Ned, has no idea who he is. He literally lives next door to MJ and has to watch her live her life without him in it.
Who Is MJ’s New Boyfriend in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
That life now includes a new man. A promo screened behind closed doors at CinemaCon showed Peter discovering MJ has a new boyfriend the hard way, by spotting her kissing him at a party. The trailer also shows someone caressing MJ’s face in Peter’s presence, which is genuinely painful to watch.
Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged in real life, which makes all of this extra funny as a piece of acting homework.
On top of the heartbreak, Peter is also dealing with an unexpected physical mutation in his powers that could threaten his existence, while the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, enters the MCU on the big screen for the first time and clearly has his own approach to crime-fighting that puts him at odds with Peter.

The full cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Michael Mando as Tombstone, Marvin Jones III, and Sadie Sink in a role that is still officially undisclosed. Rumours have pointed to Sink playing Jean Grey from the X-Men but that has not been confirmed. The internet has been running wild with theories.
How Does Spider-Man: Brand New Day Connect to the Rest of the MCU?
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This is a new creative energy for the Spider-Man series and from everything shown so far it feels noticeably more grounded and emotionally heavy than the previous trilogy.
